AVAILABLE GRANTS, INCENTIVES & CONCESSIONS
Export Market Development Grants – Export grants for small to medium businesses up to $150,000.
Assists small and medium business with achieving long term success in international business.
Global Opportunities Program
Provides financial assistance to eight industry clusters of Australian companies.
R&D Refundable Tax Credit- 45% refundable tax credit for smaller firms with an annual turnover of less than $20 million and a 40% non-refundable tax credit for firms with annual turnover of greater than $20 million.
Australian Technology Showcase
The program provides support to Australian technologies with global market potential.
Commercialisation Australia Program
The program replaces the old COMET program and is merit based, aiming to offer skills and knowledge support. It provides funding of up to $200,000 over two years to assist with the recruitment of a CEO, grants to test the commercial viability of a product, and early stage repayable grants to put products in a place where they can be taken to the market.
Department of Education, Science and Training (DEST)
Australian government employment assistance programs to provide skills and training.
Early stage Venture Capital Fund Limited Partnership
Fund managers seeking to raise new venture capital funds of at least $10 million and not more than $100 million for investing in Australian businesses may be eligible to apply.
Pool Development Funds (PDF) program
Income and capital gains concessions.
Clean Business Australia
Grants for energy and water efficient projects.
Green Building Fund
Grants of between $50,000 and $500,000 are available, for up to half of the cost of retro-fitting and/or retro-commissioning a commercial office building, hotel or shopping centre to become more energy efficient and so reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Certain Inputs to Manufacture (CIM)
Program provides duty-free entry of eligible goods to help improve the competitiveness of Australian industries.
Enhanced Project By-law Scheme (EPBS)
Import duty exemptions on large plant.
Policy By-law Scheme (PBL Scheme)
Allows for duty to be forgone on imported manufacturing inputs for use in major development projects.
Clothing and household textile building innovative capability program (BIC)
Innovation grants are available on an entitlement basis. Grants are for research and development including innovative product design activities, innovative process improvements, market research, and some industrial property rights expenditure.
Textile Clothing and Footwear Small Business Program
A maximum of $50,000 is available for a particular project. The maximum applies to any project, regardless of its size or the cash contribution made by the applicant. Grants are only to be used for approved expenditure incurred during, not before, the project period.
Textile Clothing and Footwear Strategic Capability Program (TCF SCP)
The program supports large projects that will build innovative capability at the enterprise and workplace level. The minimum grant size is $250,000 and funding must be matched on a dollar for dollar basis.
Renewable Energy Development Incentive (REDI)
The program will support companies with development and deployment of renewable energy technologies. REDI grants will on average be $500,000 with a cap of $5 million.
Ethanol Production Grants Program
The program aims to encourage the use of biofuels in the Australian transport industry. Grants are payable to ethanol producers at a rate of 38.143 cents per litre for eligible ethanol.
Offshore Petroleum Exploration Incentive
The measure allows an immediate 150% deduction on petroleum resource rent tax for exploration expenditure incurred in designated offshore frontier areas.
R&D Assistance for motor vehicle producers.
Automotive Transformation Scheme replaces stage three of the Automotive Competitiveness and Investment Scheme. Participants will be entitled to receive assistance in the form of quarterly payments from 1 January 2011.
LPG Conversion Scheme
The scheme provides a grant for new cars that are purchased with an LPG system. The scheme is capped at 25,000 claims annually.
Tourism –TQUAL Grants
The program offers grants for eligible projects ranging from $5,000 to $500,000.
Customs and GST exemptions for re-export of goods.
Other business Incentives
Tailored advisory services
The TAS grant gives businesses the chance to engage consultants to make necessary improvements. A reimbursement of half of the cost of engaging the consultants, up to a maximum of $20,000 (excluding GST) is available.
Researchers in Business
The program supports the placement of researchers from universities or public research agencies into businesses, to help develop and implement new ideas with commercial potential. Financial assistance of up to 50 per cent of salary costs, to a maximum of $50,000, for each placement for between 2 and 12 months.
